The Inka Trail offers visitors a variety of views of glaciers, rivers and a large fauna and flora. All these natural wonders known as Inca sites, which architectural art remains in perfect harmony with the natural environment. The 39 kilometers of the trail was a route of pilgrimage whose final destination was the Holy City “Machu Picchu”.  It’s very important to have the proper physical training and stay in Cusco at least 02 days before the tour. The highest point is 4,200 meters in this trek.

RULES OF ENTERING THE INCA TRAIL.

  1. To enter the Inca Trail you must obtain a permit from the (Regional Directorate of Culture – Cusco). This authorization must be acquired through an agency Operator Authorized to Operate Red Camino Inca 2017.
  2. The number of people who can enter the Inca Trail is limited. It is therefore necessary to make reservations at least six months in advance, especially for high season from May 1 to October 30.
  3. To make a reservation we require your personal information: full name, nationality, passport number, age, copy of Student Card ISIC CARD updated in the year (Official Isic card 2017).
  4. When the tour commences at the entrance to the Inca Trail you must present your original passport with which you acquired the license. (or photo Original student (if applicable)) . If you made the original reservation and have subsequently changed  your passport with which he obtained the permit, then you must bring two passports – the old and the new.

WHAT TO BRING IN THE INCA TRAIL:

  • Original passport and copy (ISIC student card – green card if you are a student). You must carry your student card as it is mandatory display in the checkpoint of Machu Picchu or the Inca Trail.

Note: If for any reason you changed to a  new passport after making the booking, please bring with you the previous passport or two clear copies of old passport along with your new passport.

PACKAGE DETAILS

DAY 01: CUSCO (3,350 masl) - KM 82 (2,800 masl) - WAYLLABAMBA (3,000 masl)

Pick up at 06:00 hrs. approx., on the way stop at Ollantaytambo, the last town before starting the Inca Trail. You should take advantage of this stop for last minute shopping. Here is also advisable to buy wood walking staves that can be very helpful along the way. We continue until we reach the Km. 82 (2600 m). the starting point of the Inca Trail. Total hiking time: 06 hours on a flat road, is training for the second day. There will enjoy the view of Mount Veronica (5,720 meters) .The average hike is 03 hours until the lunch near the archaeological complex of Llaqtapata. After lunch and a short break we continue our walk by agricultural land, forests to the first point of the camp Wayllabamba.

DAY 02: WAYLLABAMBA - Warmiwañusca (4200 masl) - PACAYMAYO (3,600 masl)

After a good breakfast. This day demands your physical effort, as you climb to the highest point of the trail, the open Warmihuañusca (dead woman) 4,200 m, where the panoramic view of the mountains and surrounding snow can be seen. We then descend into the valley the Pacaymayo (3500 m) where we camp and have dinner. During the tour we stop for lunch. Walking Time: about 8 hours.

DAY 03: PACAYMAYO - PHUYUPATAMRCA (3,600 masl) - Wiñayhuayna (2,700 masl)

This is the most enjoyable day Inca Trail. After breakfast the walk starts on this day with another small ascent to the Sayacmarca (3900 m). That day we will visit the archaeological complex of Runkarakay and the citadel of Sayaqmarka and then continue to the place called Chaquikocha where we enjoy a delicious lunch. After lunch we continue the walk to the archaeological complex of Phuyupatamarca (city over the clouds) and other archaeological monuments.  We then descend to Winayhuayna (forever young) instead of the camp near the archaeological complex . Here we will have a delicious dinner. Walking Time: 8 hours approx.

DAY 04: WIÑAYWAYNA - Machupicchu (2500 masl) – CUSCO

Very early after enjoying a delicious breakfast we start walking toward the Inca citadel, through a cloud forest . Arriving at Puerta del Sol (Inti Punku) we get our first view of Machu Picchu. Upon entering the citadel we will have an explanation of about 2 hours then free time for you to enjoy and explore. In the afternoon we board the bus to Aguas Calientes to take the train back to Ollantaytambo – Cusco. Transfer to your hotel. Walking Time: about 3 hours.

ADDITIONAL - INTERESTED IN MOUNTAIN CLIMBING Huayna Picchu

It must be booked in advance and for the more adventurous. There is only room for 400 people per day, divided into two groups:

– Huayna Picchu 1G: 07:00 hrs. – 08:00 hrs. first turn.

– Huayna Picchu 2G: 10:00 hrs. – 11:00 hrs. This is preferred by most tourists turn, as they have the Machupicchu guided tour with the group.

-The Cost to enter mountain Huayna Picchu is $ 19.00 per person which must be paid and reserved before and is based on availability.

NOTE: The entry of Huayna Picchu is different from the Camino del Inka, so that passengers should climb the day of booking otherwise lose your admission ticket.

IMPORTANT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

  1. Extra porter: For added comfort you can count on the services of an extra porter, to carry your backpack. You must make an additional payment. The extra carrier can load up to 14 kilos, not walking with you. He waits in campgrounds with all his stuff so it is important to organize a small backpack to carry the essentials. We can also provide you with a big bag to help the carrier take your things.

Cost of a porter is: 100.00 USD. 14 kg load.

You can also hire ½ porter: 60.00 USD Cost load 5 kg.

  1. Water: We suggest you buy a bottle of water from 2 liters for the first day and use the same packaging for the whole trip. We provide boiled water for your bottle every morning. We suggest you bring purifying tablets, if you need more water you can take it from streams, waterfalls and take them with the pills.

4.-Baths along the way; On the way in the campsites there are basic toilets constructed by DIRCETUR, may be used by visitors.

  1. Garbage: There are enough trash cans along the way. Oour porters make sure our campgrounds are clean and are constantly working to keep the trail clean. We ask you to help us.
  2. Prohibitions It is prohibited to pick plants or collect orchids bring alcohol or other drugs, campfires, carrying poles with metal point.
  3. Showers on the way: There is only one Winayhuayna in the last campsite, you may wish to rent. It is offered as hot, but is rather lukewarm.
  4. If some one gets sick and needs to return (rarely happens) Our guide makes the coordination and with the help of one of the porters organize their return.
  5. Additional Money

Provide yourself extra money (150 soles), if you need more money in Aguas Calientes there is an ATM.
